Last week I was watching a movie that reminded me of a blouse very dear to me. It’s about A Dangerous Method , a film that tells the story of Jung, Freud and Sabina Spielrein, played by Keira Knightley.
The action takes place at the beginning of the 20th century, also known as La Belle Epoque. Every time I’m watching a movie, my eyes run on costumes, it happened many times to choose a film and watch it only for the clothes involved.
It was an era of beautiful clothes with the luxury being at its peak, for the rich class. Off course when we say fashion during the Edwardian Era or La Belle Epoque, we all have in mind the hourglass silhouette, lace and embroidery blouses, and the very deep high lace fabric collars that reached right under the chin, and which gave the impression of an elongated neck.
I chose some pictures from the movie so you can admire the costumes, but my advice would be to see the movie itself, if you haven’t seen it already.
Seeing those lovely costumes, immediately reminded me I own a blouse inspired from that Era. It’s a blouse made by my mother 30 years ago, from homespun, starting from a collar handmade by my grandmother, so I care a lot for it. I wore the blouse the next day, and shoot some pictures so you can see the beauty of it, and how I matched it.
If you thought, during the reading, that I won’t give you an explanation of my long absence from the blog, you are wrong. I experienced some changes in my life, physical and emotional. I am 14 weeks pregnant, and even though I cannot describe the joy I feel, physically I felt not so good and lack the energy for writing, posing, and making new posts for the blog. But now I’ m feeling so much better and I can’t wait to post again.
I am still wearing my clothes that I wore before, no radical changes yet, except I find it difficult now to wear some skirts or trousers that were much fitted. The dressing up is becoming a challenge but I cannot wait to face it.
Enjoy the photos and the movie, if you decide to watch it! Very glad I’m back!
